The “Youth Water Forum” is a human resources development project launched by the Japan Water Forum in 2021. It was initiated on the occasion of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit, held in Japan for the first time in 15 years in Kumamoto City in April 2022.
In the third year of the project in 2023, the Youth Water Forum invites 15 to 18 year old from both Japan and abroad to submit three-minute videos in English on themes related to water. The application period is scheduled to be from June 1st to December 12th, 2023. Details on how to apply will be released on the Youth Water Forum’s official website on June 1st.
The Youth Water Forum also plans to hold exchange activities events and presentations of submitted videos. Last year, the Youth Water Forum has held the symposium “Water Conference for Future, 2023, Cross-Generational Efforts for the Future of Water“, and participated in the United Nations Water Conference (UN 2023 Water Conference).
Furthermore, we are planning to participate in the “10th World Water Forum” scheduled to be held in Bali, Indonesia, in May 2024.
The importance of youth participation is being recognized in various fields of society, and efforts are being made to transform society through intergenerational collaboration. At the current pace, the SDGs related to water will not be achieved in time. The acceleration of transformative actions by the young is needed. Social change is necessary in order to achieve this.
Join us in taking a step towards changing the future of water !
