– Stockholm World Water Week 2024: JWF will organize APWF 4 Asia-Pacific Focus Sessions and 1 NoWNET Session with our partner organizations!
Stockholm World Water Week 2024 will be held from 25-29 August 2024 in Stockholm and online. This year’s theme, “Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future,” asks us to recognize the regional and global interconnectivity of communities and nations and underscores the collaborative effort needed to achieve a peaceful and sustainable future.
Since 2018, the APWF Secretariat (JWF) has been the regional coordinator’s role for Asia and the Pacific under the MoU with Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). Following this year’s theme, the APWF Secretariat will organize four hybrid Asia-Pacific Focus Sessions with our partner organizations.
Furthermore, as the NoWNET Secretariat, JWF will organize the NoWNET Session with the NoWNET members.

Japan Water Forum released “Messages from Japan at the 10th World Water Forum in Bali: Policy Brief”
Presentations and remarks by Japanese government, experts, researchers, civil society organizations, and private sector were summarized as policy recommendations.

– Children learned about earth’s water cycle through uchimizu
August 1st is Water Day in Japan and the first week of August is Water Week.
On August 5th, the Water Workshops and Expo was jointly held by the Headquarters for Water Cycle Policy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japan Water Week Organizing Committee, at the Science Museum in Kokyo Gaien National Garden in Tokyo.
At the event, JWF Director Shigenori Asai as the Grand Master of Mission Uchimizu organized a workshop, aiming at elementary school students who are currently on school summer holidays. Having learned about why air temperature rises and how water’s heat of vaporization effects, participants experienced the changes in surface and air temperatures by doing uchimizu (pouring water on the ground) together. The workshop was also an opportunity for them to understand the processes of evaporation, condensation and precipitation in the water cycle.
